## Summary

Return the balance of an address at a given block, in wei.

## Parameters

| Parameter | Type | Description |

| `address` | `ADDRESS` | Account address to query. |
| `blockParameter` | `QUANTITY\|TAG` | Block number or tag: latest, earliest, pending, safe or finalized. |

## Returns

- **Type**: `QUANTITY`
- **Description**: Account balance as a 0x-prefixed hexadecimal quantity in wei.

## Notes

The balance depends on the chosen block tag: pending reflects the pending state, while safe and finalized correspond to different confirmation levels.
