Parameters

Parameter	Type	Description
`transaction`	`object`	Call object with to (the address being called) and optional from, gas, gasPrice, maxFeePerGas, maxPriorityFeePerGas, value and data/input.
`blockParameter`	`QUANTITY\|TAG`	Optional block number or tag the call runs against: latest, earliest, pending, safe or finalized; defaults to the latest block.

Returns

Type: DATA
Description: Call return data, usually ABI-encoded, as 0x-prefixed hex; 0x when there is no return value.

Notes

The call is read-only: it creates no transaction and changes no state, and a revert normally surfaces as an error.
